The Portal project is about innovation and efficiency and represents the first time a major international city has joined up all it’s what’s on and ticketing information in order to reach a wider audience.
At the core of the Portal is audience development this is achieved via the consumer focused website GoSeeThis.com and associated services which create ‘opportunity’ and open up arts and culture to more Greater Manchester residents.
The future development planned for the Portal project is to take this from an opportunity for Greater Manchester consumers and organisations to one that provides access for the North West region as a whole.
The Audience
All About Audiences is constituted to assist arts, culture, heritage and entertainment organisations in maximising their audience. As such the what’s on Portal aims to target the following audiences:
- Greater Manchester residents via GoSeeThis.com: specifically those with ‘low engagement or unengaged in arts and culture
- Time-constrained visitors to the city-region focused on those taking short breaks (UK and overseas) and those visiting friends and relations. Working in associated with VisitManchester.com to target this audience.
How it works
Aggregation - Audiences want somebody to do the web trawling for them. The Portal facilitates this by drawing together listings content automatically across ticketed and non-ticketed arts, culture and heritage events in Greater Manchester.
Single basket functionality - The Portal provides the ability to book tickets for multiple venues across multiple ticketing systems in one transaction.
Optimisation – Content is simple, bold and straightforward. The Portal present’s easy-to-use information containing no jargon or ‘artspeak’ to best meet the needs of the audience. Evoking enthusiasm based on the idea of word of mouth ‘buzz’ about an event or experience.
Recommendation - An advisory channel recommending what’s good. Providing a trusted voice that reduces the amount of noise and helps audiences in making properly informed choices about what to see or do.
Distribution - The syndication of content and ticket booking functionality across different sites including VisitManchester.com.
