Family Friendly is a national Arts Council England initiative aimed at increasing family audiences
and participants for the arts.
The Family Friendly brand and overall initiative was originally launched by Arts About Manchester, the audience development agency for Greater Manchester and predecessor to All About Audiences. Arts Council England then developed a Toolkit and rolled out the initiative nationally. Families are now one of the key strategic audience priorities for Arts Council England and the Family Friendly initiative aims to support the development of this important audience.
Two resources are available for you to download:
Family Friendly Toolkit
This toolkit is designed to support arts organisations wishing to make a commitment to families, making it easier for families to take part in the arts, as audiences and participants. Aimed at arts professionals and drawing on extensive research and interviews, the toolkit contains experiences and examples of good practice from many arts organisations to help develop work for families. You’ll also find a useful matrix to audit your family provision and well as guidelines for creating your own Family Friendly policy and action plan.
You can download the Family Friendly Toolkit from the Arts Council England website.
