New National Arts & Public Health Library

The National Arts and Public Health Library (NA&PHL) is a new development from the University of Salford. Supported by the Royal Society for Public Health, it is hoped that this will be a valuable contribution to furthering the work and the profile of arts and public health.

The NA&PHL is not a new network. Its aim is to provide a free and accessible resource to all those who seek information about arts and public health. The National Arts and Public Health Library will be built on the framework of an institutional repository, a robust mechanism for sharing academic research.

The National Arts and Public Health Library will be taking in arts and public health work from far and wide, practitioners and academics alike. It is not confined to text documents or published work. The N&PHL wishes to hear from all those who have, or who are making a contribution to arts and public health with work that promotes the understanding and the value of the arts in this context. They hope to ensure that open access to full data is possible but recognise that copyright will in some cases prohibit the full material from being available. They would still wish you to send your work for inclusion, and they can put up your abstract and signpost to the original source. Before the deposit is made into the library the depositor will need to sign a non exclusive online deposit agreement .

The website is currently under construction and will carry the URL www.artsandpublichealthlibrary.co.uk. They hope to have sufficient information in the library to go live in early 2011. Until then please send any queries correspondence or materials to Carolyn Nuttall c.nuttall@salford.ac.uk.
