Family Friendly MonstersCalling all little monsters! The Family Friendly Film Festival is returning to Greater Manchester’s best family friendly arts and cultural venues this summer, for 17 days of fantastic events and activities.

Bringing together a selection of the most exciting new family friendly films from around the world, alongside some of the best loved family films of the past 80 years, the festival blends a unique mix of film and a diverse range of unusual and quirky locations for screenings.

Most of the events are free (and none are more than £5)
, so it’s the best way to keep your little monsters entertained during the summer holidays!

Highlights for 2010 include:

  • Get seriously spooked out at our Night At... events, taking you into Manchester’s creepiest venues after hours! Opening their doors are The Manchester Museum, Salford Museum and Art Gallery, Victoria Baths and the stunningly redeveloped People’s History Museum, a “practically perfect” venue for a screening of Mary Poppins!
  • Experience the multi-sensory thrill of 4D cinema (with motion seats, water spray and air blast) at the Museum of Science and Industry.
  • Explore the magic of Greek myths at The Manchester Art Gallery with screenings of classics like Jason and The Argonauts and some fantastic workshops
  • Discover the best of world cinema with the Get Global programme at the Manchester Museum as well as classics like The General and The Red Shoes at Stockport Plaza
  • See some seriously spectacular films from master puppeteer and creator of The Muppets, Jim Henson and have a go at making your own puppets to take home
  • If you have very little ones, share their first cinema experience with them at First Flicks, a series of events for under 5s that are fun, informal and a great way to introduce your family to the wonders of the silver screen!
